Role Playing. It’s the story’s that we weave in concert with our friends and family that show the stuff we’re made of, or the stuff we imagine we are made of. Of course in Role Playing there is a good amount of fantastical creation that stretches beyond ourselves but one can’t help but insert a sliver of one’s own hopes and desires, inclinations and personal fortitude, or what we wish we could rise to at the occasion.
Sometimes it’s hard to get into character, you have that moment of feeling silly and wonder of maybe you might come off as odd if you get into it to much. But there is something freeing about diving head first and really digging into the meat of the character and laying it out there, and emotions, concepts, and maybe some aspects you wouldn’t normally take on yourself; but you feel emboldened by the fact that you are vicariously living through this character you dreamed up where anything is possible.
So don’t fear looking odd or strange, sink your teeth in, get elbows deep in that backstory, put on the full mantle of the character and don’t be afraid to give it your 100 percent. Who knows, the passion of your fire might spark others into joining you and being equally as invested.
