Are we there yet?
Hello everyone, I’m Rory, but feel free to call me roracle – I’m the administrator and chief editor of Dungeon Deep. I’m excited to share my passion for gaming with you, and I hope to inspire other creators and players along the way.
As a lifelong gamer, I’ve spent countless hours exploring various worlds and game systems. My experience spans both video games and tabletop games, and I’ve even dabbled in video game design and development. Although I never completed any projects on my own (it’s tough to make games solo!), I learned a great deal about how games work, including the rules that govern them and why they are designed a certain way.
One thing I’ve come to appreciate is that every game has its unique challenges and settings. Some RPGs focus more on storytelling and don’t incorporate combat, while others are heavily concentrated on battle mechanics. As someone who’s not an expert in any particular game, I often rely on official rules and guidelines to ensure fairness for players and the fantasy world they inhabit.
On this blog, you can expect to find articles about my approach to playing out certain situations, as well as discussions on rules and how to adapt them to create a more immersive experience. I’m passionate about learning and teaching others how to learn, and I believe that knowing how to learn is just as important as what you’re trying to learn.
You’ll also find reviews and deep dives into software and features that can benefit gamers and game masters alike. I’m a big fan of free open-source software, and I’ll share my thoughts on various tools and projects that can enhance your gaming experience. Occasionally, I may even share “top” lists of software, tools, or house rules that I find particularly useful – but don’t worry, I’ll try to focus on evaluating each item based on its own merits rather than comparing them directly.
I’m excited to share my thoughts and experiences with you, and I hope you enjoy what we post here at Dungeon Deep. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to getting to know you all better!
